Last updated 19 October 2026.
Who we are
This privacy notice explains how Gen7Ven Ltd (“Gen7Ven”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data when you visit our website, send us an enquiry or apply for a role with us.
Gen7Ven Ltd is the controller of your personal data for these purposes. Our address is 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN, United Kingdom. You can contact us about privacy at any time at info@gen7ven.com.
We process personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
The information we collect
Enquiries: when you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, company, area of interest and the details you choose to share about your project.
Job applications: when you apply through our careers form, we collect your name, email address and, if you provide them, your phone number, location, LinkedIn or portfolio link, preferred track, target role, experience, availability, employment history, education, cover letter and CV. We also record your consent choices.
Website use: our servers and hosting providers record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the website. If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect information about how you use the site.
Please do not include special category data (for example, health information) in your enquiry or application unless we specifically ask for it.
How we use your information and our lawful bases
To respond to enquiries and prepare proposals: we rely on our legitimate interests in replying to people who contact us, and, where you are asking about our services, on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
To assess job applications: we rely on our legitimate interests in recruiting suitable people, and on taking steps at your request before entering into an employment or engagement contract.
To contact you about future opportunities: if you tick the box on our careers form, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
To understand how our website is used: we rely on your consent for analytics cookies. To keep the website secure and working, we rely on our legitimate interests.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies that the website needs to function, such as those remembering your cookie choices. These do not require consent.
We only set analytics cookies if you choose to accept them in our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link on our website or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Who we share your information with
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run our business and who act on our instructions under written contracts. These include our database and file storage provider Supabase, where enquiries, applications and CVs are stored, our website hosting provider, our email provider and, if you consent, our analytics provider.
We may also disclose personal data where required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business, in which case the recipient would be bound by equivalent obligations.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we make sure the transfer is protected by a UK adequacy regulation or appropriate safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us for more information about these safeguards.
How long we keep your information
Enquiries and related correspondence are kept for 24 months from our last contact with you, unless they lead to a contract, in which case we keep them for as long as needed to perform the contract and meet our legal obligations.
Job applications, including CVs, are kept for 12 months from the date of application. If you are hired, relevant information becomes part of your personnel record. If you withdraw consent to be contacted about future opportunities, we will stop doing so.
Analytics data is kept in line with the retention settings of our analytics provider. When retention periods end, we securely delete or anonymise the data.
How we protect your information
We apply SOC2-ready and GDPR-compliant engineering practices, including encryption in transit and at rest, access restricted to the people who need it, and secure storage of uploaded CVs. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will act promptly if an incident occurs.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to request access to your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to our processing, and to data portability in certain circumstances.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@gen7ven.com. We will respond within one month, and we may need to verify your identity first. There is usually no charge.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first at info@gen7ven.com so we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
